Four of Surrey’s best high school boys basketball teams have advanced to the semifinals of the Surrey RCMP Classic.

The all-Surrey tournament will see Cloverdale’s Lord Tweedsmuir face Fleetwood Park on Friday at 5:45 p.m., followed by a battle between Newton’s Tamanawis and South Surrey-based Semiahmoo starting at 7:45 p.m. Both games will be played at the Enver Creek Secondary gym, 14505 84th Ave.

To get there, in a day with no real upsets, Tweedsmuir more than doubled Southridge on Wednesday (Jan. 16) by a score of 101-49, while Fleetwood Park topped Guildford Park 74-58. In the other bracket, Tamanawis cruised to a 101-68 win over Pacific Academy, and Semiahmoo edged Clayton Heights 79-78.

Winners of Friday’s semifinal games will fight for the tourney title Saturday night (Jan. 19) at Enver Creek, starting at 7:45 p.m.

The junior boys championship game is set for Saturday starting at 12:15 p.m.

All tournament scores and schedules are posted at surreybasketballclassic.info.

The 28th annual Surrey RCMP Classic kicked off Sunday (Jan. 13) with 24 teams in action on opening day – 16 senior squads and eight junior.

In the 2018 Classic final last January, Semiahmoo topped Tamanawis to win the senior boys championship by a score of 73-64. In the 2018 junior final, Tamanawis beat Lord Tweedsmuir.
