Fox fires five

Madison Fox fired five goals as the Advertising Works Thunder Cats iced West Kelowna #1 11-7 in Petite ringette play at Priest Valley Arena.

Backstopped by solid netminding from Brooke Buller, the Thunder Cats used other offence from MacKenzie Munroe and Jillian Pipke, each with 2+1, Winter Vanderveen and Chelsea McNabb each with a goal. Sophie Granley, Kelly Widmark and Carly Newman each had one assist.

The Vernon Sunshine Autographic Swag fell 5-4 to the Kelowna Rage in Junior B action Sunday at Priest Valley Arena.

Alanna Fox led the Swag with two goals and an assist. Bailey Williamson had a goal and an assist, Brenna Beck had a single and Desiree Turnball supplied a helper.

The Vernon Nixon Wenger Invaders were also on the wrong end of a 5-4 decision, falling to Kelowna Saturday.

Rebecca VanEyck supplied a pair of goals, both assisted by Miranda Blatney. Also scoring for Vernon were Ashleigh Cohen, assisted by Ava Haldane, and Spencer Christensen, unassisted.

Madison Johnson came up with some great saves to keep the game tight.

A two-week holiday layoff wasn’t enough to bog down the Newalta Rush, who kept their Tween undefeated streak intact with a 7-4 win over the host Kelowna Fusion in an early-morning game Sunday at the Capital News Centre.

Netminder Garrett Adams had to be sharp as the Fusion came out hard. Defenders Alex Drury, Saylor Martian, Katelyn Paulin and Caleb Pope were physical in turning back the Kelowna attack.

Shelby Conners and Kendra Ostafie, each with 3+1, led the Rush, who got a single from Saige Woodliffe. Amy Parsons, Hannah Popilchak and Maddie Powls each supplied assists.

Julie Francis turned the hat trick as the North Enderby Timber Flames fell 13-6 to the West Kelowna Lightning in a hard-fought Novice battle.

Georgia Lannon fired two goals and Sierra Lochhead added a single in her Novice debut. Kaila Summerfelt chipped in with two assists, and Lannon and Francis added one apiece in front of Emma Lochhead. Ashly Shwaluk had a great game on defence.

In other Novice play, the Vernon Interior Savings Blue Lightning suffered their first loss last weekend, falling 10-6 to Salmon Arm 10-6.

Scoring for the Lightning were Emma Elders, with a hat trick, Danika Bellamy, Jayden Scott and Daine Thoma.

Logan Thoma came up with some great scoring chances. Emma Roine and Jessie Campbell shared netminding duties.

Vernon Mark’s Heavy Haul Voltage zapped host West Kelowna 6-4 Sunday at Jim Lind Arena.

The Voltage shook off the holiday rust, getting goals from Bree Thalheimer (2), Shelby Fisher (2), Carly Alexander and Danika Seed. Assists came from Darian Newman, Riley Martian and Dayce Knopf.
