There has been a tremendous response to the call out for the first annual Chieftains Alumni Tournament.
Sixty-eight former basketballers at Agassiz elementary-secondary school have already signed up, says current AESS basketball coach Kyle Dickey, representing several generations of Chieftains.
There’s room for more, with a full slate of men’s and women’s games running over two days this weekend.
The cost to participate is $20, with all proceeds going to help support the AESS basketball program.
Dickey is hoping to see the stands filled with spectators, too.
The games start Friday at 5 p.m. in the school gymnasium, running every hour until 8 p.m.
Saturday’s games starts at noon, continuing every hour until the start of the final game at 7 p.m.
Also, Agassiz Eagles alumni have arranged for a game to be played 11 a.m. on Saturday.
