Calling all curlers! Straw brooms, push brooms, household brooms, or whatever you got, the Golden Curling Club wants you. March 18th and 19th signifies the wrap-up of another great year of curling right here in Golden. It is the Final Curling Funspiel and all players, of any skill level are urged to participate.
The cost is a mere $40 per person. Included is a fine dinner put on by Canyon Creek Catering and a night of dancing and laughter as Mike Pecora, from Elite Sound and Light, will be hosting Karaoke! The club will also be holding its Annual General Meeting on the 19th at 7:30pm.
If that isn’t action enough, this bonspiel will have a theme. A theme? Besides trying to win one of the three events? Yes, in fact it will be a wacky, fun, out-of-the-ordinary costume theme.
“Be as extreme as you wish with the outfits you plan on wearing. Anything goes,” one excited curler said of the idea.
The rock-sliding action is set for just the two days, but with more teams, the potential for three days of curling may not be out of the question. So, grab a broom and hit the ice, or stop by for a beverage upstairs or some of the “famous wings” at the concession and enjoy some fine curling.
