Sitting in sixth place heading into the championship round, the Fraser Valley Fusion 97 caught fire, winning all three elimination games to capture the peewee rep A provincial title.
The Fusion were playing at Surrey’s Sullivan Park earlier this month (July 15-17).
In the finals, Fraser Valley faced the White Rock Renegades 97 in a hotly-contested affair which needed extra innings.
Tied at one going into the eighth inning, the Fusion struck for three runs to win 4-1.
The victory advances the team to the national championships in Vaughan, Ont. next month.
The Fusion are looking for any local businesses which may want to donate towards the team’s fundraising efforts. Anyone interested can contact team manager Carrie Fortin at carrief@shaw.ca.
