The Fraser Valley Basketball Officials Association is looking for a few good men and women.
With basketball season just a couple of months away, the FVBOA is searching for new officials to join them for this season.
The FVBOA officiates all high school basketball games played in the Fraser Valley, and there will be education and training meetings starting in early October.
FVBOA officials cover high schools from Langley to Hope. The purposes of the group are: to govern, encourage and foster the growth and development of basketball officials throughout the areas of its jurisdiction, to provide efficient, qualified officials for the game of basketball throughout the areas of its jurisdiction, to promote good fellowship amongst its members, and a high standard of relationship with coaches, players and other officials, and to market and promote basketball officiating in the province of British Columbia and throughout Canada.
Anyone, female or male, with an interest or background in the game can be a referee. Applicants are required to have a reasonably good level of fitness and conditioning and a willingness to learn.
High school basketball league games kick off on Nov. 30.
