A G.W. Graham player has been awarded the 2020 Kevin Chin Memorial scholarship by the B.C. High School Football Association.
The award goes to Vince Ibardolaza for best exemplifying leadership, academics and the ability to overcome adversity.
Ibardolaza is one of the smallest offensive linemen on the field every time he puts on his helmet. But with a fire-hydrant frame (five-foot-seven and 210 pounds), he doesn’t back down against foes who are much taller, using a low center of gravity and superior leverage to win one-on-one battles.
Ibardolaza earned all-star status during the 2019 football season.
G.W. Graham coach Luke Acheson said the teenager has work ethic and plays with passion and aggression.
He also has tree trunks for legs.
The Kevin Chin Memorial award is named in memory of longtime football coach Kevin Chin, who passed away in 2007.
