Gamblers ditch health food

Quesnel’s curling superstars are back in action, some more so than others, as Quesnel’s Curling Superleague begins another season.

Quesnel’s curling superstars are back in action, some more so than others, as Quesnel’s Curling Superleague begins another season of fighting the ice man.

On sheet E, the Billy Barker Casino gang didn’t have to gamble, just skill as they served Karen’s Health Foods an 8 – 5 loss in a close fought game.

Also off to a good start is the Handi Mini Storage foursome as they handed the almost perennial powerhouse Douglas Lake Equipment foursome a convincing 7 – 4 loss on sheet D.

By all accounts, Sandy, Candy, Randy and Mandy had a dandy of a game against the often daunting DLE tea.  Skip Candy lollipopped a tight come around shot in the seventh end to earn her team a sweet win.

No word on their dentist bill.

On sheet C, A&W set the grills on fire with a 6-5 win over Cariboo Pulp.

After giving up two points in the first end, A&W came back with three in the second and never looked back.

Cariboo Pulp tried to ply their way back  into the lead, but the burger family would not give up as they cleared the tables without having to throw their last rock.

On sheet B, the crew from the Child Development Centre made it look easy as they sent the Royal LePage foursome packing with a 6-3 win.

The CDC played with mid-season form, as the summer training program paid off.

Royal LePage were forced to second place and that’s all they would say about that.

Finally, on sheet A, Service Electric zapped JAR Transportation 7-5 as JAR ran out of gas to let Service Electric wire this one home from the hack.

The teams are back in action Wednesday night, slipping and sliding starts at 7 p.m.
