He was a highly popular wrestler known as Gangrel when he starred in both the WWF and WWE circuits back in the day.

Gangrel (David Heath) now, 42, is still a master of the ring and headlines Thrash Wrestling’s “Cold Blooded 2012” Saturday night card at the Schubert Centre.

In 1998, Heath was hired by the World Wrestling Federation due to the support of then writers Bruce Prichard and Vince Russo, who believed in the merit of a vampire gimmick.

Heath, a Florida product now living in Burbank, was given the name Gangrel, which was derived from a vampire clan from the role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade.

From 2004-07, Heath bounced back and forth between the newly-renamed World Wrestling Entertainment and the independent circuit. He made a couple appearances for WWE in 2004, returning as a hired goon of John (Bradshaw) Layfield during a feud with The Undertaker

Heath was inducted into the Legends Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame last year. He now wrestles in California for Knoxx Pro Wrestling

“Gangrel’s ghastly run in the WWF back in the late ‘90s is notably one of blood which he would spew in the faces of his opponents before knocking them dead with his patented DDT,” said Thrash promoter Nick Szalanski.

“He would also be famed for bringing in a young Edge and Christian to his brood and later joining forces with the Undertaker in his Ministry.”

On Saturday night, Gangrel goes up against Disco Fury, a man who needs no introduction in a Thrash Wrestling ring and has been dancing his way to the top tear of the company.

“Disco Fury is known for infuriating wrestling fans as a self-absorbed narcisist but after his face off with Gangrel the term ‘Disco’s dead’ may have a more relevant significance,” said Szalinski.

The card also features former WWE contender Slave against the current Thrash Wrestling champion The Black Dragon in a long-awaited match that guarantees high flying, fast paced, smash mouth quality.

Also in action “The Thompson Valley Terror” JJ Jetson takes on The Unholy Minion.

In a triple-threat match, Michael More fights Ronnie Angel and The Great Kasaki for a future shot at the Thrash Wrestling title.

Collin Cutler wrestles KC Andrews in a grudge match that’s growing fast.

There will be live music from The Blood Alley Rats and autograph sessions at intermission with Gangrel and the other wrestlers.

Doors open at 6:30 and show time is at 7:00. Tickets are $12 and $15 at the door and available at the Schubert Centre and at Ebenezer’s in Vernon, Bogarts in Armstrong, Tony O’s in Enderby and The Snac Shac in Lumby.
