Top seed Walnut Grove now faces No. 4 Holy Cross in semifinals at Langley Events Centre

The Walnut Grove Gators are through to the final four.

The senior boys basketball team got 30 points from player of the game James Woods in a 100-74 win over the No. 8 Kitsilano Blue Demons on Thursday night in the quarter-finals at the BC 4A provincial basketball championships at the Langley Events Centre.

Woods had 30 points, nine rebounds , three assists and three steals while Ty Rowell had 27 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and four steals.

Andrew Goertzen chipped in 17 points and five rebounds while Brett Christensen had 11 points and five rebounds.

The Gators, who are the No. 1 seed, now play the No. 4 Holy Cross Crusaders, in a rematch of last month’s Fraser Valley championship game.

The game goes tonight (Friday) at 7 p.m. in the LEC arena bowl.

The other semifinal features No. 2 Kelowna against No. 3 Oak Bay.

The bronze medal game will be Saturday at 4:45 p.m. on centre court while the gold medal final takes place in the arena bowl at 8:15 p.m.
