Aldergrove’s Bill Germaine has been selected to the B.C. Selects Provincial Baseball Team.
Bill Germaine, 16, who attends Aldergrove Secondary School and plays for the Langley Blaze in the B.C. Premier Baseball League, has been selected to play for the B.C. Selects 17U Provincial Team. The Selects leave August 8 to play in the 2011 Baseball Canada Cup in Moncton, New Brunswick, Aug. 10-14 against the provincial 17U all-star teams from the other nine Canadian provinces.
This tournament caps off a busy summer that in addition to regular Premier League play saw Bill and his Blaze team play in a tournament at the MLB Urban Academy in Los Angeles, followed by a tournament at Oregon State University, and finally the B.C. Premier League Provincial Championships at Nat Bailey Stadium.
The Blaze won the Provincial Championship and Bill was named second Team All-Conference after finishing in the top 10 of almost all of the league’s offensive categories.
Bill played his minor baseball with the Aldergrove Minor Baseball Association, and last year was a member of the Langley Jr. Blaze, which captured both the regular season and Provincial Championships in the B.C. Jr. Premier League.
Bill’s older brother Joe Germaine also played baseball in Aldergrove and with the Blaze, and after finishing two years at playing Vernon College in Texas will be playing on a scholarship for Mississippi Valley State University beginning this fall.
