The Vancouver Giants continue shaping their roster for the upcoming season.
The major junior hockey club selected forward Filip Zadina with the fourth overall pick in the 2016 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft on Tuesday (June 28).
“We’re excited to add Filip to our group,” said Giants general manager Glen Hanlon.
“We’ve selected a world class player who is already touted as being a high pick in the NHL Draft in 2018.
“As a 1999-born player, he fits in well with the age group of players that we have, and we look forward to his continued development with our team.”
The 16-year-old Zadina, who is from the Czech Republic, spent last season with HC Paradubice U20. He scored 10 goals and had 17 points in 19 games as well as playing a pair of games for HC Paradubice Extaliga.
And this past April, Zadina had five points in five games for his country at the under-18 world championships.
Zadina was also a fifth round pick of Lokomotiv Yaroslav in the 2016 KHL Draft.
