The Giants have signed forward Zack Ostapchuk (St. Albert, AB) to a Standard WHL Player Agreement.
“We are very happy to have Zack signed and committed to the Vancouver Giants,” said GM Barclay Parneta. “He is a talented, driven player and an explosive skater who can help you win in a variety of different ways. Fans are going to love the way he competes and uses his size and he has a strong offensive upside.”
The 6’2″, 176 pound Ostapchuk was selected 12th overall by the Giants earlier this month at the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
In 30 games with the Northern Alberta Extreme (CSSBHL) he posted 24 goals and 21 assists for 45 points along with 12 penalty minutes. He added two goals and an assist in four playoff games. Recently he registered a goal and an assist through eight games for the Western Canadian Selects U15 team in Philadelphia, PA. Earlier in the season he notched four assists in five games for Team Northwest at the 2018 Alberta Cup and scored once and added four assists in six games at the John Reid Memorial Bantam Tournament.
“It’s an honor to sign with the Vancouver Giants,” adds Ostapchuk, who just turned 15.
“I was so excited to be drafted by the Giants and I am looking forward to getting my WHL career started.”
Next season he can play a maximum of five regulation season games with the Giants as an under-ager until his Midget season comes to an end.
