The Bantam C Division Golden Rams hosted a five-team (four of which came from Cranbrook) tournament over the weekend at the Golden Arena. All teams played in a round-robin format; to the winner went a birth in this year’s playoffs.Golden, unfortunately, finished in last place at the tournament. But, with five brand new players, all of which have never played hockey before, the team did great. The weekend was extra tough for Golden, as they were down a couple of players; one player moved to Manitoba to be with her family and another was sidelined due to an injury. The tournament’s final game was played between Players Bench and Eagle Plains. Eagle Plains managed to secure the victory, winning by a score of 6-3.As for the girls’ season, well it is now over. However, the team is interested in playing a couple more exhibition games, that is if they can find any competition; with only a few female teams, it is tough to find anyone to play. The team plans on celebrating a great season nonetheless at their Awards Banquet on March 2nd. The event will showcase the efforts of all the players and coaches and give a huge thanks to all the parents for their solid commitment.
