Surrey golfer Adam Svensson shot a final-round 1-over 72 on Sunday (Dec. 13) to win the Web.com Tour qualifying tournament by seven shots over Americans Ian Davis and Jason Millard.
Svensson, a former B.C. Junior and B.C. Amateur champ, carded a 20-under-par 266 total over four rounds at the PGA National Resort Spa.
The 21-year-old Barry University product earned $25,000 US for the win and was granted fully exempt status on the Web.com Tour for the 2016 season. The tour is the feeder system to the PGA Tour.
With the victory and fully exempt stats, Svensson will now have the ability to plan his schedule in an effort to give him the best opportunity to make it to the PGA Tour in 2016/17.
Svensson won a Canadian junior title in 2012 and helped Canada to a runner-up finish at last year’s world amateur team championship in Japan.
Elsewhere in the field on Sunday, Devin Carrey of Surrey shot 11-over and was tied for 137th.
