Local junior golfer Karson O’Keefe kicked off the 2012 Zone II B.C. Interior junior golf tour in fine fashion. A member of Shuswap Lake Estates Golf and Country Club, O’Keefe shot a one over par 73 at the Osoyoos Golf and Country Club last Saturday, tying for first place, but was defeated in a sudden-death playoff by Steven Lee of Kelowna. The next day, at the Fairview Mountain Golf Club in Oliver, O’Keefe was on his game again firing a 74 to finish in a tie for second. These two good finishes put O’Keefe at the top of the Order of Merit after the first weekend of the 2012 Zone II Interior junior golf tour. The tour consists of 10 single-round events throughout the Interior, and a Tour Championship two-day event in Revelstoke, all to determine a four-player, Zone II Junior Team to represent the zone at the BC Junior Golf Tournament.
