Come join the fun at the Cariboo Chilcotin Partners for Literacy annual golf tournament on Saturday, Aug. 18 at Marmot Ridge. It looks like it will be a beautiful day so slap on some sunscreen and join us for a fun filled day!
Many dedicated volunteers have been working hard to make sure that this year’s scramble for literacy tournament is a great success. Remember that whether you decide to play a round of golf, sponsor a hole in one, bid on the silent auction or contribute in any way you will be supporting literacy programs in our community.
The day will start off with registrations at 11 a.m. We will have a shot-gun start at noon. Both Central GM and Ford have sponsored a $10,000 dollar hole-in-one prize. After the golf game we will head up to the Legion for some refreshments and our annual scramble game. Make sure your team collects 16 scrabble tiles at four holes during the golf game. You will have a chance to win a prize if your team can spell the winning word.
After the scrabble game we will have a delicious steak dinner that Mel Torgerson and Ken Mills will be barbecuing on the deck. While we are finishing up dinner we will have the highlight of our event! A local young woman will be recognized for her significant progress made over the last few years. This is what our literacy programs are really about. It is watching our most vulnerable individuals connect to programs and receive the support they need to overcome the many barriers that have stopped them in the past. These successes help keep the literacy team in 100 Mile House motivated throughout the year. We hope that you too will enjoy hearing about how important having the support of our programs is to individuals in our community.
After the learner award we will recognize our golf teams and individual players for most honest team, bragging rights, longest putt and closest to the hole. We will find out who found the hidden green balls on the golf course, play the 50/50 game and bid on the silent auction items.
