Goode won out over evil in the inaugural Slams for Sebastian wrestling fundraiser, held Saturday night at the Comox Band Hall.
A full night of furious action raised $1,465 for Sebastian Cobban and his parents Tyler and Amanda to help with their seven-month-old son’s medical bills. Sebastian has a rare medical condition that requires regular visits to hospital.
The wrestlers all donated their time, and 50/50 winner Brad Campbell donated his winnings to Sebastian.
On the undercard, Vancouver Island Champion BJ Laredo beat Scott Steel and Krofton in a Triple Threat Match, Lak Sidarrtha beat Mr. India and Riea Von Slasher beat Raven Lake.
The much-anticipated tag team match between local favourites the Comox Crusaders (Sgt. Kaos and Barry Goode) and Greatness on Demand (“Gorgeous” Michelle Starr and Disco Fury) did not disappoint.
After a lot of cheating and double teaming, Starr and Fury prevailed. But their post-bout celebrations were cut short by Sgt. Kaos, who hit a stunner on both men.
Elsewhere, “Ravenous” Randy Myers beat “Greedfather” Jordie Taylor and ECCW Heavyweight Champion Cremator retained his title by beating Scotty Mac.
The rumble came down to Barry Goode, Disco Fury and Scotty Mac. After much double teaming, Barry Goode overcame the odds, eliminating both Disco and Scotty to become the first Slams for Sebastian champion.
“On behalf of Slams for Sebastian, I’d like to thank Barry Goode, Michelle Starr, Disco Fury, Cremator, Scotty Mac, Raven Lake, Riea Von Slasher, BJ Laredo, Scott Steel, Krofton, Ravenous Randy, Jordie Taylor, Lak Sidarrtha, Mr. India, Bruiser Joe, Ken Cossitt, Eric Toneff, Andrew Davis and Tim Chaisson who not only refereed but also donated the ring,” said event organizer Keith Spinks (aka Sgt. Kaos).
“We also owe big debt of gratitude to all the out-of-ring volunteers: Earl Andrews, Laura Mudge, Lisa Wheeler, Ashley Shea, Megan Spinks, Josh Spinks, Emily Hazelman, Kaitlyn Hazelman, Montana Davis, Alexa Lamouroux, Jacie Buckingham, Kelsy Mcintosh, Mark Palmerley, Kent Fourneau, Audry Baxter and Dylan Moore from the Comox Valley Boxing Club, Tammy McClarty, Joe Johnson, Dave Goodall, Doug Beattie and Brad Campbell who not only volunteered but donated his 50/50 winnings to Sebastian,” said Spinks.
“I’d also like to thank the Avalanche Bar and Grill and DJ Mike for hosting a great after-party,” he added.
