Last Wednesday at Barriere Elementary School students from Mrs. Jennifer Kerslake’s, student teacher Miss Dana Rorison’s and Mrs. Lynne McGravey’s grade 3 classes strapped on their cross country skis and enthusiastically enjoyed the new layer of snow that blanketed the North Thompson.
The grade 3 ski program was recently awarded $500 in grant money from the North Thompson Communities Foundation, which gave this program the funding needed to continue again this year.
Program organizers report the grant money was used to purchase more skis, which were greatly needed and very much appreciated.
The class is currently in training for an upcoming ski race in Blue River, on February 24th, and hosted by the Blue River School and Mike Wiegele’s.
The grade three ski program says, “Many thanks to the North Thompson Communities Foundation for their support of our program.”
