The Grand Forks Secondary School’s senior girl’s volleyball team will not be participating in the provincials this year after placing fifth in a tournament in Castlegar from Nov. 16 to 17.
“The weekend was tough – the girls played really well at times and then at other times they seemed to lose their focus a bit,” said head coach Helen Argue. “We lost our first two matches on Nov. 16 (Salmo and Elkford). The match against Salmo was disappointing, as the girls just couldn’t seem to get things going, and the match against Elkford was exciting though and the girls played well but still lost.”
On (Nov. 17), the girl’s team played against Fernie for their first game and won, but lost the next two games.
“We played Elkford again for 5th place and won,” said Argue. “It was a fantastic match and the girls were in it to win and they did.”
The team finished in second at a home tournament earlier in the month.
