Chilliwack native Sarah Wierks has been named one of the Abbotsford Heat/University of the Fraser Valley Cascades Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 15.
The Chilliwack secondary school grad led her Cascades to two important road victories over the University of Victoria last weekend. UFV knocked off the Vikes 70-57 on Friday and 61-49 on Saturday to improve their Canada West west division first place record to 9-3.
Wierks led the Cascades with 23 points.
In addition she led all players with 26 total rebounds and recorded four assists and blocked shots.
