Guest coaches Mike McMorran and Synneva Taylor-Hawes can retire with a perfect record.
Cutting striking figures behind the bench, the guest coaches will turn the reins back to the regular bench bosses after guiding Vernon to a 3-2 win over Kelowna in Thompson Okanagan Ringette League U16 action.
Georgia Lannon opened the scoring for Vernon with an assist from Ashley Saunders. Bryn Korol and Hanna McMorran added the second and third Vernon goals on assists from Bryn Taylor-Hawes and Julie Frances. Goalie Aleisha Smith faced several good shots.
Vernon Venom took an early bite out of Kelowna as the U12 season began in Salmon Arm.
Makenna Jackson scored three times and Jordan Tung picked up the win in goal as the Venom downed Kelowna 5-1.
Jackson opened the scoring, followed by a snipe from Hillary Quiring, which was set up by Teagan Schober.
Jackson exploded later in the game to complete her hat trick, taking nice passes from Sophia Bilodeau and Kristen Francks.
Kelowna struggled to break through the Vernon defensive pairings of Caryss Hill/Amelia Johnson and Kennedy Jackson/ Aimee Skinner. Francks rounded out the scoring in the second half.
Kelowna’s goalie kept her team in the game, making countless saves, robbing Vernon forward Sydney Lewis a number of times.
