GW Graham grad Bentley Thomas commits to Valley Huskers

The Huskers added Thomas and Colton Holt from GW Graham, plus two Sardis Falcon grads

The Valley Huskers have added more local talent to the roster.

After a flurry of commitments on Monday’s Canadian Junior Football League signing day, the Huskers continued getting signatures on letters of intent.

Bentley Thomas and Colton Holt are part of an influx of GW Graham talent.

Thomas committed to St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia in 2018 and has returned home. The speedy defensive back/receiver brings big-play potential on both sides of the ball.

“He is very athletic,” said Huskers football boss Bob Reist. “He’s a kid we can use in a few different ways, and I’m looking forward to seeing him compete.”

Holt is another receiver/defensive back.

Colton is waiting to really break out,” Reist noted. “He sees the game well. He can play both sides (offence and defence) and he’s a great addition to our locker room.”

Reist dipped into the Sardis secondary program for two players, Noah Saunders and Nicholas Calder-Johnson.

Saunders is a big-bodied receiver and outside linebacker while Calder-Johnson is a pure defensive back.

“Noah is a tough football player,” Reist said. “He has good hands. he can contribute in all phases. He words hard and will fit in great with this group.

“Nicholas has good cover skills and can play aggressively in the run game. We are looking forward to seeing him produce at the next level.”
