The GW Graham football team crushed another preseason opponent Friday, drubbing the Argyle Pipers 35-12.
The Grizzlies hit the road for this one, traveling to North Vancouver.
Von Richardson led the attack, rushing 24 times for 186 yards (7.75 per pop) and three touchdowns. He added two catches for 29 yards and another major.
Darius Kelly rushed four times for 79 yards.
Quarterback Bentley Thomas completed seven of 19 pass attempts for 86 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Colin Campbell completed two pass attempts, one of them a 12 yard touchdown toss to Jesse Hough.
Alex Whitehead was the most productive receiver, hauling in three passes for 51 yards. He also caught a two point convert.
Daniel ‘Brazil’ Santos continues to establish himself as an emerging star on defence.
The speedy linebacker had eight tackles and two quarterback sacks.
Bradley Langlois and Ashton Young came up with interceptions and Cooper Middleton recovered a fumble.
“Argyle is a very tough competitor and we generally have really hard fought physical battles with them,” said GWG coach Laurie Smith. “This one was more of the same and our guys seem to thrive on that. They fought to the end (scored on the last play). This Grizzlies varsity group very closely resembles the team motto ‘Grizzly Tough.
“They may not be the biggest or fastest you have seen but they are the toughest.”
The Grizzlies head south this week for a preseason test in Washington State. They’ll be in Cashmere, WA. Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff vs the Cashmere High School Bulldogs.
GW Graham starts the regular season schedule at home Oct. 6, hosting the Langley Saints with a 7 p.m. kickoff at Exhibition Stadium.
