GW Graham’s senior girls basketball team opened their regular season slate with a bang, blowing out the Langley Saints 92-14 Tuesday night in the GWG gymnasium.
Langley figures to be the overmatched team in an otherwise strong five-team Eastern Valley Athletic Association.
Abbotsford secondary is the No. 2 ranked team in B.C.
MEI is ranked No. 7 and Robert Bateman is an honourable mention.
The Grizzlies are ranked No. 5.
“Last night was a good game for us to work on some team concepts and let our bench play,” said GWG head coach Sarah Mouritzen. “Our team this year is very new looking with young Julia Tuchscherer (Grade 10) leading in all aspects of the game.
Sydney and Megan Owens are our lone grade 12s and will be key to our success. Rounding out our starting five is Kennedy Hall (Grade 11), who will be part of the 1-2 punch with Julia. Rising player Grade 11 Sydney Ma (Grade 11) is our other guard and she is a rising player, but we are raw and rough right now.”
The Grizzlies are back in action this weekend, playing in a tournament at the University of the Fraser Valley.
