Liam Deagle of the Campbell River Gymnastics Association has qualified for his first ever Canadian Championships, being held this year in Edmonton June 1-5.
It’s not just a first for Deagle, however. He is also the first gymnast to qualify for Nationals from Campbell River.
Liam just returned from representing Team BC at the Western Canadian Championships held in Richmond, where he had an excellent performance, coming home in fifth place in the All Around and qualifying for three event finals, bringing home a bronze medal on the rings, fifth place on the pommel horse and sixth on the high bar.
He will be traveling to Nationals without his coach, Esteban Baeza, but Baeza is confident Deagle can perform at his best with traveling Team BC coaches Mike Hood and Kris Krunick.
