Vernon’s up and coming gymnastic stars spun and flipped during the 16-annual Fruit Bowl at North Valley Gymnastics Tuesday night.
The overall winner was awarded a juciy watermelon.
The event is an in-house competition to introduce intermediate and advanced recrational gymnasts to gymnastic competitions. There were 39 competitiors, ages 7-15.
“We have kept this meet as a North Valley only meet in order that our own gymnasts feel as comfortable as possible in a competition setting,” said head coach Kathy Stevens.
“It’s a fun meet that only focuses on execution of skills rather than the difficulty of the skills.”
North Valley gymnastics currently has 1,038 member participants and employs 15 coaches. The club is a non-profit society, and the programs are open to the public.
The club starts youngsters off in the Climbing Koalas and Swinging Monkeys programs.
Summer camps are being held at the facility at 2707 – 45th Avenue (near Canadian Tire) in Vernon, July and August. Summer camps are half days (morning or afternoon) and run for a week (Monday to Friday) for ages 3-17.
