Ten Williams Lake Gymnastics Club members bounced and flipped their way home with multiple ribbons and medals from the Quesnel Gold Pan Invitational late last month.

Coaches Raeanna Brown and Michaela Newberry both worked at preparing the club’s gymnasts for the meet — the first competitive meet of the club’s season.

“They did phenomenally,” Brown said. “They cleared out a few top places so I was really proud of them.”

Level one gymnasts Isabelle McMath, Ava Johnson and Raquel Tomelin all fared well.

McMath picked up gold medals in vault, bars and beam, and a silver medal in her floor routine. Johnson, meanwhile, claimed silver medals in vault, bars, beam and floor. Tomelin won bronze medals in vault and bars, and silver medals in beam and floor.

In the higher levels, gymnasts weren’t awarded gold, silver or bronze, but were given scores out of 10 in their routines. Level two gymnast Shaelynn Dyck picked up scores of 9.30 in vault, 8.025 in bars, 9.15 on beam and 8.2 on floor.

Level threes Kylie Syme, Marajade Goertz and Emily Swan also all scored well.

Syme had scores of 9.250 in vault, 9.20 in bars, 8.3 in beam and 8.7 in floor, Goertz picked up scores of 8.450 in vault, 7.50 in bars, 7.2 on beam and 7.25 on floor. Swan had two scores above 9.0 with scores of 9.350 in vault and 9.2 on floor, and also had scores of 8.75 on bars and 8.45 on beam.

In the level four category Nya Chutskoff, Kalli Campbell and Allysia Irawan all competed.

Chutskoff competed to an 8.100 in vault, 8.85 on bars, 6.8 on beam and 8.65 on floor.

Campbell saw scores of 8.95 on vault, 8.90 on bars, 7.2 on beam and 8.485 on floor, while Irawan had scores of 8.500 on vault, 8.0 on bars, 7.425 on beam and 7.55 on floor.

The WLGC is now back to training in preparation for its next meet, coming up March 17 in Abbotsford.

“They’re now working hard preparing for that one,” Brown said.
