Abbotsford pro golfer Adam Hadwin was introduced last week as one of four ambassadors for the First Tee of Greater Vancouver.
First Tee is a junior golf program that seeks to build character and promote healthy choices in young people through the game of golf. The local chapter runs in partnership with the YMCA of Greater Vancouver and the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.
Joining Hadwin as First Tee ambassadors are former LPGA Tour star Dawn Coe-Jones, and up-and-coming phenoms Eugene Wong of North Vancouver and Sue Kim of Langley.
ONE STROKE OFF CUT LINE
Hadwin missed the cut at the Web.com Tour’s Chitimacha Louisiana Open last week.
Playing at Le Troimphe Country Club in Broussard, La., Hadwin opened with a three-over 74, but bounced back with a four-under 67 in the second round. That took him to one under par for the tournament, but still left him one stroke shy of the cut line.
The 25-year-old has yet to make the cut in any of his three Web.com Tour starts this season, but he did play the weekend at the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego back in January.
Four of the first five Web.com Tour stops this season are in South or Central America, and up next is the Brasil Classic at the Sao Paulo Golf Club, April 4-7. After that, the tour begins its U.S. schedule in earnest with the WNB Golf Classic in Midland, Tex., April 11-14.
