The 85th Hankey Cup doubles tennis tournament opens this morning with men’s B play at the Kalamalka Country Club.
Tournament director Ray Kimoto said there are more than 70 players from throughout the Okanagan entered in the three-day event.
Former Hong Kong pro Murray Bennetto is not playing. He teamed with Leif Nordlund to stop Craig Tilander and Mike Knights 2-0 (6-2, 6-0) in the all-Vernon men’s A doubles final of the rain-delayed tournament last year.
Bennetto was paired with Eastern Washington Eagle star Dean Kimoto two years ago.
In the ladies A doubles round-robin tournament, it was Vernon’s Hailey Crampton and Lyse Tremblay topping the ladder last year at 5-1.
In the mixed A doubles, it was Ogden and Bob Langford of Salmon Arm defeating Cindy Akenclose and Dan Albrehct 2-0 (6-2, 6-0) in the final.
The men’s and ladies finals go at 1:15 p.m. Saturday.
