The Cariboo Cougars stand in the way of the Valley West Hawks and a spot in the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League semifinals.
The Hawks, who finished the regular season in third place with 56 points (27-11-2), will host the sixth-place Cougars (17-21-2, 36 points) in a best-of-three series beginning tomorrow (March 7) in Langley.
The teams play at Sportsplex in game one (6:15 p.m.) and the George Preston Recreation Centre on Saturday (8:15 p.m.) for game two.
If necessary, game three would be at the Preston Centre on Sunday morning with a 9:45 a.m. face-off.
The Hawks enter the post-season with an 8-1-1 record in their past 10 games.
They closed the regular season with a pair of wins, 3-2 and 8-1 over the North Island Silvertips at the Nanaimo Ice Centre, knocking the Vancouver Island team out of playoff contention in the process.
North Island led 2-0 in the first game before the Hawks scored the final three goals with Langley’s Luke Gingras netting a pair. Surrey’s Matt Bradley had the other.
Bradley had a hat trick in the second game while Devante Stephens (White Rock) had a goal and four assists.
Gingras, Justin Wilde (Surrey), Jesse Lansell (Langley) and Matt Barberis (White Rock) had the other goals.
Bradley finished second in the league in goals with 39 goals in 37 games.
