Ranked fifth in B.C., Houston Christian School’s hard-working Single A volleyball team is looking like a top contender in provincials this year.
“We’ve had a lot of good rallies and really good learning experiences,” says head coach Emily Duzan. Duzan has been coach of the senior girls’ team for four years.
Winning 23 of their 26 games so far this season, Duzan said success comes by staying focused on the bigger picture.
Rather than focus on each game, the team talks about how to win the whole tournament.
Six of the girls on the ten-player team are playing their last season this year.
Allison Seinen, who wears #10, said she plans to make the best of it.
With the provincial zones fast approaching, the girls are stepping up their game.
Houston Christian School will host a zone tournament at Smithers Secondary School later this month.
The winning team will move on to provincials in Prince George.
