Last weekend the North Thompson Sportsplex hosted a number of hockey games.
Although there was technically no tournament a few teams came out to play. The puck dropped on Friday with the Edmonton Midget Oil Kings taking on Clearwater’s Midget Ice Hawks.
Waiting expectantly on the sidelines before the game were Adan Gordon and Devin Green. They, along with the rest of the team members, were eager to play the Edmonton team for the first of two games with their team.
Edmonton came all the way down just for these few games. Luckily the Sportsplex was able to arrange a couple of other teams to come up to give them a few more games to make it worth the trip.
One Hundred Mile House and Kamloops midget teams came along to help out. Skill and teamwork saw our own Clearwater team begin the weekend with a victory.
While on the sidelines a superfan was spotted. His name was Jack Weber. He was 2 years-old and when high enough to see the ice he strained to keep an eye on every bit of the action. Another typical Canadian boy at the rink—maybe one day he will be the one in uniform for the rest of us to watch.
