A Salmon Arm SilverBack is moving on up. On Saturday, June 25 at the Xcel Energy Centre in St. Paul Minnesota, Josh Manson was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks. Manson was the 160th pick overall in the sixth round.

On Saturday, June 25 at the Xcel Energy Centre in St. Paul Minnesota, Josh Manson was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks. Manson was the 160th pick overall in the sixth round.

The 6-ft 3-in, 205 lb defenceman is the son of former NHLer Dave Manson of Prince Albert, Sask.

During the 2010-2011 season, Manson recorded 47 points in 57 games and added 80 penalty minutes. He was fourth in assists and second in penalty minutes on the SilverBacks roster. In 14 playoff games, Manson added another seven points.

He played his first Junior ‘A’ season in 2009-2010 where he recorded 24 points and 75 penalty minutes in Salmon Arm.

Manson will suit up for one more year in Salmon Arm before heading to Quinnipac for an NCAA Division 1 scholarship beginning in the fall of 2012.

In total, 33 players from the WHL were selected in the 2011 NHL draft.
