For the first time ever, the Rogers Hometown Hockey tour is coming to Abbotsford.
The hockey festival celebrating the sport from coast to coast announced the 24 communities for the 2015-16 tour on Sept. 9 and it stops in Abbotsford on Feb. 20 to 21.
NHL alumni, hometown heroes and local entertainment are scheduled to appear, and sports personality Ron MacLean is set to deliver Abbotsford-based hockey stories over the two days inside a mobile studio.
The pre-game, intermission and post-game shows will include features on Abbotsford NHL players and also grassroots community stories.
Abbotsford is one of only four B.C. stops on the tour, with New Westminster, Victoria and Penticton also receiving visits.
Complete details for the Abbotsford stop are still being determined and are expected to be finalized in the coming months.
