The Langley Blaze were perfect over the weekend, going 4-for-4.
The U18 baseball team improved to 7-1 through the first two weeks of the B.C. Premier Baseball League season after sweeping a pair of doubleheaders.
The Blaze beat the Victoria Eagles 11-2 and 2-1 on Saturday at McLeod Park before hitting the road and defeating the Coquitlam Reds 6-3 and 10-6 on Sunday at Mundy Park.
The first game saw the bottom of the Blaze batting order come through with three doubles and seven RBIs.
Yi-An Pan had one double and three RBIs while Junior Blaze call-up Rhys Cratty did not look out of place. Batting ninth, he belted a pair of doubles and four RBIs.
Parker Logan earned the win allowing a pair of runs over innings with three strikeouts in the 11-2 win.
The teams’ second game was much closer but a pair of runs in the first inning was enough offence in Langley’s 2-1 victory.
Kurt Meeberg and Hayden Jaco drove in the runs while Cooper Misic went the distance on the mound, allowing one run and four hits in seven innings while striking out seven.
Against the Reds, the game was tied at three runs apiece heading into the sixth inning before the Blaze plated three runs to win 6-3.
Connor Chorpita drove in two runs, with Tony Pharand, Yi-Fan Pan and Kurt Meeberg had an RBI apiece.
Brendan Coulter earned the win, pitching two innings of relief with four strikeouts. Jake Polancic had pitched the previous five innings, allowing three runs while striking out five.
And the weekend closed with the Blaze jumping out to a 9-0 lead. The Reds did put up six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, but could not complete the comeback, falling 10-6.
Jaco had four hits — including two doubles — and three RBIs and Chorpita drove in two runs.
Marcus Gregson earned the win with six strikeouts. He surrendered four runs, but only one was earned.
