The Luckies are gearing up for another season as tryouts are coming up soon.
Tryouts are on Sept. 29 and 30 and then the coach and other details will be decided, says Luckies team captain Alonzo Slaney.
“We hope to have lots of people out for tryouts, lots of young kids,” Slaney said, adding that he hopes for 30 to 35 people, including the four to six players coming from Burns Lake, so that they can explore team options.
There are three 2012-2013 divisions: Houston, Smithers and Vanderhoof make up one division, Prince Rupert and Terrace form a second, and Lac la Hache, Williams Lake and Quesnel make up the third division.
The Central Interior Hockey League (CIHL), under new president Ray Hallock, has released its season schedule.
The home opener for the Luckies is Oct. 20 against the Lac la Hache Tomahawks.
Looking at the roster, Slaney says that things look promising for the Houston Luckies.
“It looks like we’ll have a fairly strong squad this year,” he said.
