The Heritage Park Middle School Grade 9 girls basketball team is heading to the provincials.
The girls finished fifth at the recent Fraser Valley regionals to qualify for the event.
The club opened with a 53-31 loss to the eventual tournament winner Unity Christian on Feb. 14, but then bounced back with a 29-20 win over Heritage Woods on Feb. 15. They closed with a 29-25 win over Langley Christian to earn the fifth-place ranking.
Heritage Park entered the Grade 9 girls provincial tournament ranked 13th in the province, and squared off against the fourth-ranked Argyle on Thursday morning. Results were not available at press time. Games continue at Britannia Secondary in Vancouver on Friday, with the provincial champion set to be crowned on Saturday afternoon.
In other action, the Mission Roadrunners senior boys team was one and done at the Fraser Valley regionals, which wrap up on Sunday.
The Roadrunners fell 69-56 to Pinetree on Feb. 14 to end their championship hopes.
