The 2011 BC Bike Race will visit Campbell River on Monday in the second stage of the seven-day mountain bike race. An international field of 500 riders will experience the world class trails of the Snowden Forest and the beauty of the City of Campbell River. The race starts at 9 a.m. in Robert Ostler Park and the riders will make their way out to the Snowden Forest trails returning anywhere from two and a half to seven hours later to finish on Shoppers Row in front of the Tidemark Theatre and the Spirit Square. The race will include such international stars such as France’s Thomas Dietsche, Italy’s Mario Daho, defending champion Chris Sheppard and our very own 1996 Olympic team member, Victoria’s Andreas Hestler.
There will be traffic disruptions on HWY 19A in-between Robert Ostler Park and HWY 28 at the Duncan Bay Mainline from 8:55 – 9:20 a.m. and From HWY 28 onto HWY 19 then 16th Ave to Shoppers Row from 11:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (approx).
