With three games in three nights and without two of their top offensive weapons, the Kelowna Rockets still managed to put up a fight on Sunday night in Lethbridge.

In the end, the hometown Hurricanes prevailed 6-5, stopping the Rockets’ winning streak at four games.

Rockets forward Calvin Thurkauf continued his recent tear with two goals. The Swiss-born forward has eight timers in has last four games and now has 17 on the season.

Thurkauf (Switzerland) and Tomas Soustal (Czech Republic) both leave Monday to join their respective teams to prepare for the world junior hockey championship.

Rockets starting goalie Michael Herringer was pulled after giving up three goals in the first 6:46 of the opening period.

Brodan Salmond went the rest of the way, stopping 28 of 31 a shots he faced.

The Rockets (19-12-1-0) are back in action on Tuesday night when they face the Tigers in Medicine Hat.

Kelowna’s next home game is Dec. 27 against the Kamloops Blazers.
