The Nelson Leafs are in need of a holiday break after a pair of losses to the Spokane Braves and plenty of injuries last weekend.
Nelson fell 2-1 to the Braves at home Friday before losing again 4-1 in Spokane on Saturday. After Saturday’s game the Leafs announced in a Facebook post they were missing 13 players to injuries.
The losses dropped the Leafs out of first place in the Neil Murdoch Division. Nelson (18-10-4) has just three wins in its last 11 games.
On Friday, Reid Wilson had Nelson’s only goal and Anderson Violette made 30 saves.
Marcello De Antunano stopped 26 shots in net for Spokane, while Matthew Klenk and Nate Wilson each scored.
In the rematch Saturday, Adam Diotte provided the Leafs’ only goal as Tenzin Mint made 38 saves.
Jettson Smutek scored twice for the Braves (14-13-3), while Ryan McKenna and Owen Miley added singles. Former Leafs goaltender Austin Madge meanwhile stopped 43 shots.
