Two teams who barely tolerate each other on the floor will duke it out for the championship.
The Armstrong Shamrocks battle the Kelowna Raiders in the Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League best-of-three final, which began Tuesday night at Memorial Arena.
Game 2 is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Nor-Val Sports Centre Friday night.
“It is going to be a good match-up, it’s a rivalry that has been brewing for the past two years. We are two teams that don’t like each other,” said Shamrocks’ goaltender Chad Pieper.
Armstrong finished 6-4, two games behind first-place Kelowna (8-2). The Rocks went 1-4 with the Raiders this year.
“I’m looking forward to the start tonight and hopefully finishing at home on Friday,” said Shamrocks’ runner Pat Nelson on Tuesday.
Game 1 and 3, if necessary, go in the boilermaker that is Memorial Arena, which can have temperatures in the high 30s for game time.
“Hopefully we can get this done in two games and win this in front of our fans Friday night. I have a feeling it might go three games though,” said Pieper.
“They got a couple good guys on offence in Luke (Bailey) and Pho (Heng). We are going to try and shut them down and make their other players try and step up.”
