Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I could almost repeat verbatim the opening statement from last week’s golf report.  Twenty-eight ladies took to the course trusting that the Tuesday Night Ladies’ Luck would continue and it did.  The dark ominous clouds to the southeast of the course slowly dissipated and we enjoyed some partly sunny skies for our evening round.

If it doesn’t, the headline should read “Barb Smith has a fantastic round.”  She won the KP on Hole #4 and sunk her putt to score her first deuce ever.  When she picked up her prize money for the KP and the deuce she remarked that it was more fun than turning 70.

Flight winners were: Flight 1 low gross – Pat Carr; Flight 1 low net – Christina LeCerf, Flight 2 low gross – Vicki Hoffer, Flight 2 low net – Trudy Scarlett and Flight 3 low gross – Louise Lodge.

Louise picked up many (many, many) other prizes including the Birdie pot for a bird on Hole 1; long drive on #3 (Jul’re by Lynda); and KP in 2 on Hole 7 (Barriere Massage).

Donna Salle had a long drive in 2 on Hole #1 (AG Foods) and Erin Mitchell had a long drive in 2 on Hole 2 (Knight’s Inn).  Susan Newberry won two prizes – long drive in 2 on 2 (Barriere A & W) and long putt on Hole 9 (NT Star Journal).  Leslie Stirling had a long putt on Hole 8 (Country Store Antiques) while her daughter, Teresa visiting from Ottawa had the short drive on Hole 1 (Bodi Mekanix) and won twice for going in the gully on Hole #7 (North Thompson Funeral Services).  It must have been jet lag.  Sue Paulhus and Deb Winiski shared those gully honours with her.  Susan Mitchell had a long drive on Hole #5 (Station House Restaurant) and Trudy Scarlett had a long drive on #5 as well (Barriere Irly Centre).

Stacey Gartner won two prizes – long putt on Hole 3 (Barr K Treats) and long putt on #9 (Val-Bella Studio).

KPs went to Tanya Desjarlais (two KP prizes  from Stamer Logging and Carman & Bar Smith), Vicki Hoffer (Royal LePage), and Betty Baillie (Carl’s Market Garden).  Barb Kavanagh had a long putt on Hole #9 (Rainer Custom Cutting).

Putting honours went to Barb Kavanagh (Ron Wallace Trucking) while Joan Streadwick picked up the most putts (Estylo Hair Design).

Next week is Christmas in July and it begins with a 5:30 shot gun start.

If you are planning on attending you had best book your spot and cart soon.

We are having a full turkey dinner following the golf.

I’d come just for the turkey and the pumpkin tarts.  Weight Watchers be damned – I am bringing real whipping cream for the tarts and I’m not counting any points that night.  I look forward to seeing you there.
