From November 23 to 25, the Jaffray Rebels Junior Girls Volleyball team hit the road to participate in the Junior Girls Volleyball Provincials, hosted in Surrey.
The Jaffray girls were undefeated during their regular season, which secured them a spot in the provincials where they represented the East Kootenay.
The provincial tournament hosted 32 teams from around B.C., with Jaffray as the smallest school present.
Jaffray School was proud to welcome back their hardworking team who finished fourth overall.
The girls finished second in their pool play to move onto the championship draw. On Saturday, they defeated Prince George in three sets to move on to the quarterfinals. There, they played Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School, the number one ranked team in the province. Jaffray defeated them in two sets.
In the semi-finals, Jaffray lost to M.E.I. and played Pacific Academy for the bronze medal. They lost after two sets.
This fourth place finish is the highest placement for a Jaffray Rebels Volleyball Team. They were recognized by the host school and other teams for their sportsmanship and hard work.
Ellie Oestreich was named as a first team All-star and Belle Boehm was named second team All-star.
The Jaffray Rebels would like to thank their coach Allana Oestreich and all their sponsors for making this memorable experience possible: Lightburn Ventures, Galloway Lumber, Dalpat Contracting, Reid Carpentry, NJ Contracting, Fernie Ford, George Smith, Jaffray Pub, McD’s Enterprises, OJ Operations and Dr. Dan Demmings.
