They scored three times in their first at-bat, but were shutout the rest of the way.
The North Delta Blue Jays dropped a 9-3 B.C. Premier Baseball League decision to the Abbotsford Cardinals in a road game Thursday night at Delair Park.
The Jays connected on three of their six hits in the opening inning, including an RBI single from Sebastien Hays that scored Bryan O’Hara from third base.
Clint Taylor and Hays would later score on infield errors by the Cardinals, and North Delta took a 3-0 lead into the bottom half of the first.
Abbotsford got one back in their first time at bat, but North Delta held a 3-1 lead until the wheels fell off in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Cardinals took the lead with five runs in the bottom of the fifth, then added three more in the sixth.
The defeat dropped North Delta’s record to 11-18 (won-lost), three games back of the Victoria Eagles, who have a hold on the final playoff position.
The Blue Jays visit the 10-21 Vancouver Cannons tomorrow night (Tuesday) at 6:30 p.m. at Queen’s Park in New Westminster. On Sunday, they host Abbotsford for two games at Mackie Park, the first contest to start at noon.
