Dave Merklinger’s Jet Ice locked up first place in the Baron Insurance Super League with a 6-2 win over Jon Gardner’s Sladen-Moore Wednesday night at the Vernon Curling Club.
After blanking the second end, Jet Ice skip Darren Heath orchestrated a deuce in three and four-ender in four to seal the win and finish at 15-5. Jet Ice, along with Jim Cotter’s Woodland Equipment, earn first-round byes in the playoffs.
With Cotter away at the Brier in London, Ont., Marc Fillion stepped up to skip the 14-6 Woodland Equipment crew to a 5-3 win over Kayla Gunner’s Armstrong Inn.
Fillion recorded singles in the first four ends, but Gunner(2-17) responded with singles in five, six and seven.
T.J. Perepolkin’s Canaccord Wealth Management iced Ty Griffith’s Nufloors 9-2.
Trailing by three, Griffith (3-17) counted two in two, but Perepolkin (12-8) shut the game down with a triple in three, followed by three more stolen points over the next two ends.
Blake Kimura’s Village Green Hotel collected singles in five and six to outlast Jeff Richard’s B.C. Trailer 5-2.
Up by a point after four ends, Kimura (7-12) delivered a clutch draw to the button against three B.C. Trailer stones.
Wayne Laface’s Inspiration Homes burgled a pair of points in the sixth end to brush back Jenn Gerow’s Gateway Mechanical 9-2.
