Jets blaze into regular season

The Summerland Bantam Rep Jets blazed into regular season play with a win against Kelowna last weekend.

The Summerland Bantam Rep Jets, sponsored by the Summerland Dental Centre, blazed into regular season play with a win against Kelowna last weekend.

The Jets had a lightning fast start with two shots on net in the first twenty seconds. Summerland continued to dominate with shots on net throughout the first period, with Carter Tower scoring the first goal of the game unassisted.

Kelowna tried to step up their game in the second, but goaltender Ben Bowyer remained solid between the pipes, as Will Gray scored another unassisted goal for a 2-0 lead. Heavy traffic in front of Bowyer’s net gave Kelowna the opportunity to slip one in to make it 2-1.

After the ice clean, Liam Trewhitt fired one in to make it 3-1 with the assist to Steve Sauer.

Third period action showed off Summerland’s passing ability and teamwork with a goal by Remy Houde assisted by Mereno Coco and Ty Sideroff. Kelowna fought hard but were upstaged when Liam Trewhitt scored again, this time unassisted. Final score was 5-2 for Summerland.
