Jewels tackle tough teams

At a tournament in Penticton this past weekend, the Salmon Arm Junior Jewels played well, facing some tough opposition.

At a tournament in Penticton this past weekend, the Salmon Arm Junior Jewels played well, facing some tough opposition.  

In Game 1, Salmon Arm faced Princess Margaret from Penticton, winning 31 to 29. Sam Bergman tallied 12 points and Brooke Rempel 7.

In Game 2, the Jewels were defeated by Princeton, 44 to 17. Top scorers were Hailey Gibb with five and Rempel  with four.

Princeton is ranked fifth in the province and Salmon Arm had a tough time containing their two top scorers, who tossed in 29 of their points. The Jewels played well in the second half and remained even with them.

In Game 3, Salmon Arm lost to Mouat, 44-33 . Gibb notched seven points and Marin Faulkner, six.

Game 4 featured Salmon Arm vs Pen Hi which ended in a 35-34 Jewels win. Bergman and Rempel each tallied 10 points.

The team plays a league game Thursday at home versus PVSS.
