Led by a 10-strikeout performance from starting pitcher Kyle Joel, the Langley Blaze mowed down the White Rock Tritons 7-1.
The two U18 B.C. Premier Baseball League rivals squared off at South Surrey Athletic Park on Tuesday night and the Blaze jumped out to the early lead, scoring a pair of runs in both the first and second innings.
The Tritons struck back for one run in the fourth, before Langley sealed the victory with three runs in the fifth.
Mike Krische scored twice, while Zach Mihic had three hits.
The win, Langley’s third straight, improved the Blaze to 7-2. White Rock fell to 6-5.
The team is next in action on Tuesday (May 3) when they host the Coquitlam Reds (4-2) at McLeod Park. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
