Johnson, Baker tops at Walnut Grove triathlon

Chilliwack’s Robert Johnson was the overall winner at the Walnut Grove Triathlon while White Rock’s Sarah Baker was the top female and fifth overall.

Altogether, 152 competitors took part in the 750m swim, 18-km bike ride and 5-km run on Sunday at and around the Walnut Grove Community Centre.

The annual event, organized by TG Multisport Club, a not-for-profit division of Tri Geeks Multisport, raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.

Johnson finished the course in 59:44 and was the lone competitor to crack the one-hour barrier. Baker came in at 1:05.49. Both were in the 20-29 age category.

16-19: Kai Riess and Robynne Shannon.

30-39: Jordan Hurdal and Teresa Hoivik.

40-49: Rob Nielsen and Collette Semeniuk.

50-59: Stan Loenzo and Celia Hill.

60-69: Stephen Brooks and Jacqui Lee.
